Counseling for Children and Teens

What does therapy offer young people?

  • Space to process significant changes- parental divorce, death of a loved one, or other circumstances that may cause disruption or confusion

  • A safe place to think through their identity as they explore new versions of themselves

  • Building skills for coping with strong feelings

  • Learning how to develop healthy relationships that feel good

My approach:

My approach to therapy with children and teenagers is informed by many years alongside elementary and middle school aged students as they’ve navigated school pressures and systems, family life, social relationships, and their own emerging identities. As a school counselor, I’ve had the unique opportunity to partner with and learn from important stakeholders in children’s lives, including teachers, parents, coaches, and community agencies and programs.

As a result, my counseling style attunes to the many forces at play in young people’s worlds in addition to their rich inner lives. I am also adept at helping families navigate school systems and challenges, including 504s, IEPs, and behavioral complexities. I believe growing up is a vulnerable yet vibrant time of life that holds precious opportunities for growth and change. Please reach out to me if you have questions or would like to discuss what I can offer.
